Dubai mulls launch of new bus route to Abu Dhabi's Yas Island

The island is home to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, Yas Links Golf Course, Yas Mall, Yas Marina Circuit, Yas Marina and seven hotels, including the flagship Yas Hotel.

A new bus route could be launched to link Dubai with Yas Island in Abu Dhabi as demand grows for its entertainment and tourism offerings.

CLYMB Abu Dhabi, the $100 million attraction featuring the world’s tallest indoor climbing wall and widest skydiving flight chamber, opened recently on Yas Island.

The island is also home to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, Yas Links Golf Course, Yas Mall, Yas Marina Circuit, Yas Marina and seven hotels, including the flagship Yas Hotel.

The possibility of creating a new bus route from Dubai to the island was raised during the 109th session of the Customers Council of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The session also recommended increasing the number of air-conditioned bus shelters to meet the needs of customers, increasing the number of buses or reducing the servicefrequency on some routes, and increasing the number of bus stops.

A visual presentation was made about public bus services by reviewing the evolution of public transport in Dubai, bus routes, metro link service, intercity service, main stations and future stations in 2020.

The session also recommended increasing the number of machines for recharging prepaid nol cards at International City, Mirdif City Centre and the Dragon Mart area.

It also called on the Transport Activities Monitoring Department to step up monitoring of all public bus routes to curb cases of fare avoidance.
