Issues surround potential deterioration of passenger airbag in the Tiida model
Nissan has recalled more than 5,300 of its Tiida models in the UAE because of a problem with the airbag.
The decision to recall was taken by Nissan Middle East distributors Arabian Automobiles and Al Masaood Automobiles in coordination with the Ministry of Economy.
It affected 5,315 vehicles manufactured from 2010 to 2013.
It is understood the issues surround the potential deterioration of the passenger airbag inflator’s propellant as a result of long term exposure to environmental moisture and high temperatures.
A spokesperson for Nissan Middle East said: “Our customers’ safety is our top priority. We are working as quickly as possible to ensure that affected owners can visit their dealer for corrective action as soon as possible.
“Nissan is aligned with regulators on the scope of the recalls and the orderly phase-out of PSAN inflators in future vehicles. Nissan has established new lines of inflator supply and is working with alternative suppliers to develop new inflators for prompt rollout in future vehicles.”
Customers with affected models are being contacted by the respective distributors.transport news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
