Coronavirus: Dubai airport introduces new thermal screening for passengers

Passengers from known high-infection areas are screened twice.

Passengers arriving at Dubai International Airport are being screened with non-intrusive thermal imaging technology as part of precautionary measures taken during the ongoing coronavirus epidemic.

A video posted to the official Twitter account of the Dubai Media Office said passengers from known high-infection areas are screened twice.

Staff from the Dubai Health Authority are present at the airport 24 hours, seven days a week to conduct further screening and tests on site as needed.

“Hospitals are fully prepared to handle confirmed cases,” the video added.

On Saturday, the UAE Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health and Prevention announced that nurseries across the country will be closed for a two-week period from Sunday, March 1.

According to government statistics, there have been 21 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, of whom five have recovered so far.
