All 270 passengers on board taken to hospital to be tested for Covid-19 virus
A Dubai-bound Emirates flight from Kochi airport in Kerala was forced to abandon take-off plans after a passenger tested positive for coronavirus.
All 270 passengers on board were evacuated from the flight after the British national was confirmed to be carrying the virus. They have been taken to hospital for screenings and medical check-ups.
According to reports, the man had boarded the flight along with 18 others, who were part of a touring party holidaying in the hill station of Munnar in Kerala.
The man allegedly failed to inform authorities in Munnar while leaving the quarantine facility and joined the rest of the group at Kochi airport.
He was tracked down to the airport by health officials after his test results showed that he was carrying the virus, Kochi airport authorities said.
Initially, just the members of his touring party were taken off the plane.
"Now, it is decided to offload the remaining 270 pax (passengers) also and send them to hospital for further investigation", a spokesperson said.
