Dubai hotel giant Jumeirah is to launch the first ice rink in the Maldives.

Its Jumeirah Vittaveli resort will introduce the rink which allows guests to be carried away into a small winter wonderland while indulging in the warmth of the tropics.

Guests will have the chance to take a dip in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, then step off the white sandy beaches and into a pair of skates to glide over the resort’s ice skating rink.

The ice rink is set to launch in the next coming weeks, said Amit Majumder, general manager of Jumeirah Vittaveli.

He added: “The ice rink is a perfect demonstration of our ongoing efforts that always aims to ‘wow’ our guests. We have many guests coming back to us and the positive feedback that we often receive is that its due to the surprise elements in our offerings.”

The ice rink was built in partnership with Glice, a company that manufactures artificial ice plates, offering ice skating indoor and outdoor anytime and in any climate conditions.
