Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has praised facilities at Dubai International Airport following an inspection.
During his tour,Sheikh Mohammed expressed his happiness and satisfaction with the services provided and he also directed officials to continue to raise the bar in welcoming travellers and simplifying procedures.
"Our priorities are centred around the human being, his happiness, and preservation of his rights and dignity, regardless of nationality, religion, sect or culture," he said in comments published by news agency WAM.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, accompanied Sheikh Mohammed during the visit which began at the departures hall at Concourse 3, where he stopped to review Emirates Airline’s baggage-screening facilities, as well as check-in and passport counters.
Last month, 18 new smart gates were installed at Terminal 2 allowing passengers to be processed in less than 10 seconds.
Of the gates, 10 have been installed in the arrival area and eight in the departure area.
The UAE is investing more than $22 billion in the aviation infrastructure that will help its four national carriers with a combined fleet size of 502 aircraft to serve more than 75 million passengers annually.
Total capacity is expected to rise to more than 300 million passengers per year, cementing the UAE’s standing as the largest investor in airlines and aviation industry in MENA region.
Investments include $8 billion in developing Al Maktoum International Airport, $7.6 billion expansion of the Phase IV of Dubai International Airport, $6.8 billion for the re-development of Abu Dhabi International Airport.
