Hotel review: Rixos Premium Dubai, JBR Beach

Beachfront location meets glitzy interiors at this new Marina destination

Hotel review: Rixos Premium Dubai, JBR Beach
The panoramic view affords a breath-taking view, from the soon-to-open Ain Dubai across to the Burj Al Arab.

It will undoubtedly feel as though you are walking into a mall in Dubai – not that you could be faulted for it.

The city does lay claim to some of the world’s best shopping destinations, so why not one more on JBR Beach? But it’s only once you realise that the whole of the building is actually the Rixos Premium Dubai that you begin to wonder how much more than a hotel an establishment like this can be.

As has become typical of the fast growing hotel chain, there is no understating the glitz. Plush couches, gold trimmed appointments, and modernist tessellations are hallmarks of the experience, and you’ll find the same level of detail spared across the property.

Make sure you request a suite with a beach front view. The azure blue waters of the Arabian Gulf are a sight to behold from these suites, featuring wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling windows.

The panoramic view affords a breath-taking view, from the soon-to-open Ain Dubai across to the Burj Al Arab. Calling these digs spacious is laughable – the ceilings are easily a height-and-half higher than you would expect from most other hotels in this glamorour city.

A long stretch of beach complements the Azure Beach Club

You’ll have an array of lighting options to set the mood; entertaining guests to a lively evening in the lounge before dimming the ambience for a cosy night in bed, and everything else in between. But before you retire for the night, indulge in toiletries by Chopard, which is just one more way to reinforce the feeling of contemporary luxury that pervades the hotel.

In terms of other amenities, the hotel hosts one of the city’s most popular nightlife attractions in Lock Stock & Barrel. Meanwhile, popular Italian restaurant Luigia could possibly hold the title to serving the best pizza in the city. But it’s the pool, aptly named Azure, that is the perfect way to lounge in the afternoon sun now that the weather is expected to temper down a bit. Cool and blue, there are plenty of decks to laze around after a dive.

But given the number of tourists in Dubai at this time of year, best to head out early and mark your territory. It’s certainly something that is encouraged – no matter which beachfront view suite you opt for, the sight of the pool shimmering in the sun is a call you’ll find hard to resist.
