UK flag carrier plans to open another cabin crew base in Hyderabad to offer services for its Indian customers flying to London
British Airways will open another cabin crew base in the south Indian city of Hyderabad to offer tailored services for its Indian customers flying to London, the airline said on Tuesday.
All flights to and from India have at least two Indian crew members on board who work alongside British Airways' London-based crew.
“Customers will now benefit from the best of British service and expertise, with the assurance that there will be Telegu speaking crew members on every flight serving the Hyderabad-London route,” the airline said.
British Airways operates Boeing 787-8 offering customers a choice of three cabins on its flights from Hyderabad to London - Club World (business cabin), World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and World Traveller (economy).
The new recruits will go through British Airways' flight safety and service training program at its headquarters in London and are expected to begin their new positions by the end 2019.
British Airways flies from five cities in India with a weekly operation of 53 flights a week from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad to Terminal 5 at London Heathrow.
"India is a diverse country with different languages spoken across cities. Opening an additional base in Hyderabad means we can offer customers the language skills and familiar culture they value for a comfortable journey," said Moran Birger, head of sales for Asia Pacific and Middle East at British Airways.
The airline has been expanding in the Indian market and has recently announced an increase in its operation to 53 flights a week from 49 flights.
