Dubai airline will attempt to welcome as many nationalities as possible onto flight EK2019, for a special journey around the UAE to celebrate National Day
Emirates said on Saturday it will operate a historic one-off A380 flight on November 29 in an unprecedented effort to celebrate the multicultural communities of the UAE onto one flight.
The airline will attempt to welcome as many nationalities as possible onto flight EK2019, for a special journey around the UAE to celebrate National Day.
The A380 commissioned for this flight will be decorated with a bespoke Year of Tolerance livery, showcasing a panorama of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures holding hands, celebrating the UAE's message of multiculturalism, the airline said.
It added that much like the UAE, which is home to 200 nationalities, Emirates employs over 160 nationalities.
"Aviation brings the world together, and as a global airline operating across six continents, Emirates brings people together, and enables cultural exchange and understanding through travel, mobility and its long-standing support of sports and the arts. On average, Emirates carries more than 50 nationalities any given flight across its network and through its home and hub of Dubai," Emirates said in a statement.
Citizens and residents of the UAE interested in joining this unique flight can register their name, nationality and contact details for consideration by visiting: https://www.emirates.com/ae/english/campaigns/6798959/national-day
The 48th UAE National Day in Dubai will also feature live entertainment with regional icons Balqees, Hussain Al Jassmi, Hamad Al Amri, Eida Al Menhali and Essa Al Marzouq set to perform at a series of concerts.
The concerts, part of citywide celebrations organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), will be free in the run-up to and on National Day on December 2.For all the latest travel news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
