Uber Eats expands to Makkah, Madinah

Delivery service Uber Eats has expanded into two additional Saudi cities, launching in both Makkah and Madinah.

In a report in Arabian Business sister publication Caterer Middle East, Uber Eats Saudi Arabia general manager Assad Numan said that “Saudi Arabia is a significant component of Uber Eats story in the Middle East region, and this expansion is part of our ongoing plans to bring out technology to as many people as possible around the kingdom.”

“We’re focused on making eating well effortless, every day for everyone, and the launches in Makkah and Madinah demonstrate our ambitious plans and reinforce Uber Eats expansion strategy across the kingdom,” he added.

“We are committed to bringing more diverse food choices and working with local entrepreneurs to unlock new business opportunities with Uber’s technology while providing a world-class experience on the app for our consumers.”

A number of chains – including KFC, McDonald’s and Baskin Robbins – have signed up to the service in the two cities.

Uber Eats will be available in neighborhoods such as Al Shoqiyah and Al Awali in Makkah and Qurban and Sultana in Madinah before a wider roll-out in both cities.

Across the country, Uber Eats has partnered with more than 2,800 restaurants.
