Malls, restaurants in UAE allowed to operate at 60% capacity

No more than four people are allowed to sit at each table and dining tables should be distanced two metres apart

Malls, restaurants in UAE allowed to operate at 60% capacity

The MoHaP and NCEMA said those visiting malls and restaurants should comply with all restrictions.

The UAE has increased the capacity that malls and restaurants across the country can operate to 60%.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHaP) and the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), in its latest update, said the increase in mall capacity, as well as other precautionary and preventive measures, is subject to evaluation by relevant authorities in each emirate.

Dubai recently announced that its malls can return to regular working hours, while earlier this month it announced that shopping malls, private businesses can operate at 100% capacity

The MoHaP and NCEMA joint statement affirmed previous social distancing measures should be applied, by saying no more than four people are allowed to sit at each table and dining tables should be distanced two metres apart.

They said waiting areas should remain closed and outlets must only serve food and drink using disposable cutlery, with hand sanitiser dispensers to be made available for customers. Staff should also wear masks and gloves, and should observe safety distance norms.

The MoHaP and NCEMA said those visiting malls and restaurants should comply with all restrictions, including wearing masks for children aged four years old and above whenever they are inside malls in addition to taking their temperature upon entry.
