Trend Micro offers tips on safe surfing

Security firm Trend Micro has announced an antivirus protection service for all Middle East computer users.

The Middle East, like every other region in the world, has suffered heavily from the recent spate of viruses and related security threats. Security firm Trend Micro has recently announced an antivirus protection service for all Middle East computer users.

The company has set up a web-page that gives businesses and home PC users advice on how to protect their systems and how to ensure they are free of infection. The web site also offers free advice on safe computing practices and on cutting the chances of triggering viruses or spreading them to other people.

“These waves of malicious viruses are causing real inconvenience, and embarrassment, to businesses and domestic PC users,” said Justin Doo, managing director of Trend Micro’s Middle East and Africa region. “There’s no sign of them letting up. If anything, they’re getting nastier and more damaging. But there really is no need for any PC to be at risk.”

“A fil of prevention is worth ten thousand dirhams of care,” said Doo. “We’re offering this as a free service to the community. We want to ensure that harmful viruses have a minimal impact on business operations in the region and we hope lots of people and companies will take advantage of this protection offer.”
