Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), Turkey’s public television broadcaster, has chosen Drake Electronics to supply a new digital intercom system with FreeSpeak for their MCR and production studios in Istanbul.

The brand new 80 port main 4000 Series II matrix has full ISDN and analogue telephone connectivity with full redundancy, including crosspoints. Drake is the only Talkback manufacturer able to provide this feature. The system also includes 36 FreeSpeak wireless beltpacks, which will allow production staff to operate freely around the studio floor or outside set whilst remaining in communication with all personnel.

FreeSpeak is a fully integrated, digital, duplex, cellular, wireless user panel that can easily fit into a pocket or onto a belt. In addition to FreeSpeak, TRT has also decided to use Drake’s new refresh range of intelligent panels with vacuum fluorescent displays. Installation and engineering support for the new system will be provided by local distributor TEKNO. The installation will be done in time to host the Eurovision Song contest in Spring 2004.
