Twitter has suspended the use of country flags with hashtags that were introduced for the Cricket World Cup, after it confused the UAE flag with the Palestinian flag.
A number of Twitter users raised the issue on the microblogging site this week after it was revealed that when tweets included the #UAE hashtag, the Palestine flag appeared instead of the UAE flag.
The Palestinian flag looks relatively similar to the flag of the UAE, with one distinct difference being the red triangle as opposed to the rectangle that appears on the UAE flag.
