Emirates is offering a 15 percent discount to select destinations during June, the Dubai airline announced on Sunday.

Valid to more than 30 Emirates destinations across the world for passengers travelling in Economy Class and Business Class, the offer is available for bookings made up to June 20.

Travel must commence on or before the end of August, the carrier said in a statement.

“With the summer travel peak just around the corner we wanted to be able to offer our passengers an opportunity to travel for business or leisure at a reduced rate,” said Khalid Bel Jaflah, Emirates vice president commercial sales UAE.

The destinations included in the offer incorporate numerous continents spanning Europe, the Far East, the Middle East, Australasia, South Africa and the Indian Subcontinent.

The announcement comes just a couple of days after UAE rival Etihad said it would match first or business-class fares provided by any other airline for families travelling together on most of the routes it serves from the UAE.

The move aims to undercut the Abu Dhabi-based carrier’s rivals as the crucial summer peak period draws near.

The Abu Dhabi-based carrier’s ‘family fares’ offer, launched on Friday, will provide 20 percent discounts to families making outbound journeys in all classes, including economy if they depart the UAE capital before 24 June and return before 15 September.

The promotion will match published ticket prices of airlines operating to non-stop destinations also served by Etihad.

Be nice if return tickets from Dubai were same as a return ticket from other destinations to Dubai. Never going to happen though is it in this non-competitve environment.

The Emirates offer is a joke...you can`t travel between the 20th June - 20th July! They also have restrictions on the flight number that you have to use.

Emirates cuts prices by 15%? So now they are only 20% more expensive than the rest?

Am also flying with Virgin - service is great, atmosphere is fun and for a daytime flight there's plenty to do - before you know it, you're landing in London. Even Gulf Air is ridiculously expensive, Emirates and Etihad are too far up their own nose cones, and as for BA, well the acronym speaks for itself

I have tried to take advantage of such offers over past many years, but as I have experienced repeatedly, they are not really there when you push the button... either sold out or available on highly restricted terms. On the face of it, it does deliver a message that these Airlines are on the ball.
