\n

The first UAE Barista Championship has been held at Dubai’s World Trade Centre. As part of the competition, 11 contestants were required to prepare 12 coffee beverages: four espressos, four cappuccinos and four espresso-based beverages, within 45 minutes.

Leading the judging panel was Gautam KS, the Barista Champion of India. Other judges included Stefano Fiorentino and Alad Fraia as sensory judges, and Jaerg Mark, an associate for the World Barista Championship, and Matthew King, manager, The Lime Tree Cafe in Dubai, as technical judges.

Competitors were judged on the cleanliness of their stations, taste, presentation, technical skills and overall impression.

George William from Barista Gulf was presented with the platinum trophy for his achievements in espresso preparation and service, and Vikram Kashyap from Blends and Brews won both the gold trophy and the award for best signature drink.
