UAE best start-up selected to join Seedstars Summit

An Arabic digital library has been selected as the UAE best start-up to represent the country at a global seed-stage start-up competition for emerging markets.

Asafeer Education Technologies, an Arabic digital library that simultaneously provides analytics, was named the best local start-up for its efficient solution during Seedstars Dubai, the UAE round of Seedstars World, held at Dubai Internet City on Saturday.

The start-up was chosen among nine other start-ups invited to present their ideas in front of the international jury panel.

Swiffix Limited, an on demand home and car service application, came in second place and was awarded a free ticket to Arabnet Conference courtesy of Magnitt.

The third place runner-up, OTTAA Project, a communication platform for speech impaired people that use images and environmental data, won a one-on one mentorship with Launchpad.

Asafeer Education Technologies will represent the UAE at the Seedstars Summit, a global seed-stage start-up competition for emerging markets, in Switzerland in March 2017 to compete for up to $1 million in equity investment.

As a part of the prize, Asafeer Education Technologies will get three months of co-working space and services at in5, a series of consultation sessions with the team of TURN8, and a one-on-one mentorship session with WOMENA.

Seedstars Summit, taking place in Switzerland every year, is a week-long training programme which provides the regional winners with the opportunity to meet the other 60 winners and investors and mentors from around the world.

Traditionally, the final day of the summit is dedicated to pitching in front of an audience of 1,000 attendees, with the possibility of winning over $500,000K in prizes and equity investment.

Seedstars, a global organisation based in Switzerland with activities in more than 50 countries around the world, aims to develop and foster start-up ecosystems in emerging markets by connecting, building and investing in driven entrepreneurs.
