UAE firm announces acquisition of first Indian hotel

Twenty14 Holdings, the hospitality investment arm of UAE-based LuLu Group International, has announced the acquisition of its first property in India.

The deal for the 54-room Abad Airport Hotel, Kochi marks Twenty14 Holdings' entry into the mid-scale hotel segment, Press Trust of India reported, citing a company statement.

It said Twenty14 Holdings was in talks with Marriott to rebrand the property as Kochi's first Fairfield by Marriott Hotel.

The company recently opened its first luxury hotel in the UAE at Business Bay in Dubai, managed by Steigenberger Hotel Group, a Germany-based hospitality firm.

Press Trust of India said Twenty14 Holdings has also entered into an agreement with property developer Galliard Homes to create a five-star hotel at 1-5 Great Scotland Yard in London.

The 92,000 square feet hotel, to be called the Great Scotland Yard Hotel, is set to open in early 2017.
