Shopping malls and e-commerce websites in the UAE have announced discounts going up to 99 percent in their respective bids to lure Eid shoppers.

Eid holidays are expected start from Saturday next, and will extend to Monday for the private sector workers.

“Eid is a time when we see a surge in sales since people want to buy gifting items for one another. During this period we see an increase of sales between 20 and 30 percent compared to the normal days,” Ulugbek Yuldashev, chief executive officer,, told Arabian Business.

“We are offering products up to 99 percent discount where customers can buy products for as cheap as between AED1 and AED5 across various categories that include home appliances, mobile, electronics and fashion products.” has unveiled 'Ramadan Fiesta', offering savings of up to 80 percent discount to buyers in its handbags, toys, apparels, footwear and home and kitchen categories.

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi’s Yas Mall will hold a 24-hour mega sale, starting June 25, with over 300 brands offering discounts of up to 90 percent.

Geant, Home Centre, Hamely's, House of Fraser, Tryano, Vox Cinemas, Ferrari World, Fun Works, Ikea and Ace Hardware will hold hourly specials post-midnight, Yas Mall, general manager, Saoud Khoory said.

Though no discounts have been offered at Dubai malls, under its 'Eid in Dubai' initiative, Dubai Shopping Malls Group will offer $68,120 (AED250,000) in instant prizes.

Last month, Dubai organised a three-day “super sale”, offering buyers with 30 to 90 percent discounts at a number of stores.
