UAE petrol prices set to rise in May

Petrol prices in the UAE will go up on average by three percent in May compared to April.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the price for Super 98 will increase to AED2.01, up 3.08 percent, from AED1.95; Special 95 to AED1.90, an increase of 3.26 percent, from AED1.84 and E Plus 91 to AED1.83, up 3.9 percent, from AED1.77.

Diesel price will rise marginally to AED1.97 per litre from AED1.95.

The new prices will come into effect from Monday.

Fuel prices have continued to rise since January this year, except declining in April.

In July 2015, the UAE’s Ministry of Energy announced removal of subsidy on petrol and diesel prices, with market-linked prices starting from August 1, 2015.
