Government says holiday for Islamic New Year to fall on 5 December
public sector in the UAE will take a four-day weekend after the government
announced that the holiday to commemorate the Islamic New Year will fall this
ministries and departments will remain closed from Thursday, December 2, 2010
to Sunday, December 5, 2010, to mark the UAE's 39th national day and the new
Hijri year 1432,” said a circular distributed by the country’s minister for
education, Humaid Al Qattami, according to state news agency WAM.
This is not fair for the private sector companies that were anyway enjoying a Friday saturday weekend. Now they stand to lose a holiday. Why can't the private sector enjoy the same number of holidays, after all these employees work just as hard, if not more!
