UAE restaurant brand plans Oman expansion

Chez Sushi, one of the UAE's most successful home-grown restaurant brands, has announced a second franchise deal to expand into Oman.

Chez Sushi, which currently has two outlets in the UAE and a recently-announced master franchise in Bahrain, will partner with Oman Holdings International Company, it said in a statement.

The arrangement comes as part of an "aggressive and strategic expansion" by Chez Sushi's co-founders, Raed Dabbous and Hiba Kosta, with first Omani Chez Sushi branch set to open on the The Wave development, in Muscat, by September.

The agreement takes the trendy Japanese concept another step closer to realising its ambitions of securing a MENA presence, with multiple outlets across the UAE, by 2015, the statement said.

Dabbous said: "Since the announcement of our intention to grow the Chez Sushi concept into a franchise model, we have been meeting with many potential partners across the region, and internationally.

"Today, we are pleased to announce that through our relationship with Oman Holdings International Company Chez Sushi is expanding into its third county in the Middle East."

Chez Sushi currently has two operational outlets, in Dubai Marina and Wasl Square and include's the brand's unique DIY option - 'Roll Your Own' - which allows diners to design their own freshly hand-made sushi roll from scratch.

Chez Sushi was created and is managed by Sho Cho Facilities Management, whose portfolio also includes Sho Cho (outlets in Dubai and Abu Dhabi), Flooka (outlets in Dubai and Abu Dhabi), and Loca (Dubai only).
