Coffee Planet, the UAE-based drinks company, said on Monday it has expanded into Pakistan, and was looking at other markets abroad.

Its third international retail outlet has opened in the heart of Pakistan's cultural capital, Lahore, following previous successful openings in Oman and Malaysia.

"As a brand, we have always had international and global aspirations and the starting point of this is ensuring we are working with the right partners to help us realise that ambition of bringing fantastic coffee to new markets such as Pakistan" said Robert Jones, managing director, Coffee Planet.

The launch of the new Lahore outlet is part of the brand's ambitious strategic rollout plan, targeting a number of key global gateway cities over the next few years.

"We already have agreements in place to add franchised outlets in Qatar and Egypt this year with several countries in the final stages of negotiation and further interest for the brand growing each week," said Jones.

Coffee Planet is also planning to expand its Pakistan presence with an additional three stores by the end of 2012, in partnership with local franchisee, FAS Corporation.

With the opening of Coffee Planet Lahore, the company is now serving over 15,000 cups of fresh gourmet coffee each day through its expanding international network.

In February, Nespresso, the single-portion coffee brand owned by Nestlé, said the Middle East is “its future” as it looks to grow its business outside Europe.

The firm said it plans to launch internet sales in the UAE by the beginning of the second quarter and will expand its number of boutiques across the region.
