Major Mariam Al Mansouri led the UAE’s mission in the US-led air strikes on IS forces in Syria - Fox News
The UAE’s first female pilot led her country’s forces during this week’s airstrikes against IS in Syria, Fox News has reported.
Major Mariam Al Mansouri, 35, became the first woman to join the Emirati Air Force when she graduated from the academy in 2008 and now serves as a squadron commander, piloting F-16 fighter jets.
Her participation on Tuesday’s strike also made her the first female from any Arab nation to fly a mission, Fox News said.
The UAE was one of five Arab allies, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar and Bahrain that supported the US-led airstrikes against IS targets inside Syria. Members of IS and Al Qaeda were reportedly killed during the mission.
You go Girl!!
Vive la femme
go get em girl!
And yet in Saudi Arabia women aren't even allowed to drive a car. Well done Major Mansouri, you are an inspiration.
How impressive! I'm sure all the women who have suffered at the hands of these psychopaths thank you. You make your nation proud!
Outstanding. Mjr. Mariam Al Mansouri, you are an inspiration the world over. What you have done and achieved is the best possible thing I can think of for the positive view other countries now have of the UAE. This is the best thing I have ever heard from the Middle East. Mjr. Mansouri "Lady Liberty" I salute you.
Having lived in the UAE for many years your achievement is no more than I would expect from an Emirati Lady, may Allah keep you safe.
I really enjoyed this news item.. A group of jihadist thugs completely against women's education, employment, freedom & liberty bombed by a lady ! Good job..
