UAE's Rotana inks deal for first Moroccan hotel property

UAE-based hotel management company Rotana has announced a new agreement to manage the Arjaan Hotel Apartments, its first property in Morocco.

The 140-key property will be located at M Avenue, the new high-end shopping, entertainment and residential destination in Marrakech, Rotana said in a statement.

Catering to both business and leisure travellers, the property will feature three dining outlets, meeting rooms, conference and banquet halls, swimming pool, and fitness and wellness club.

"We are very proud to have been selected to manage this superb property which will have great appeal, particularly amongst tourists and long stay guests who are looking for this excellent destination," said Omer Kaddouri, president and CEO, Rotana.

An exclusive destination situated in the heart of Marrakech, M Avenue is designed to become a major attraction and offers a mix of premium hotels, residences, offices, retail outlets, restaurants, cafés, art galleries and exhibition venues, along a 500m-long promenade called Garden Avenue.

Marrakech hosted 1.89 million tourists in 2014 with 6 million overnight stays. The increase in international visitor arrivals was driven by a number of factors including re-introduction of several airline routes that had earlier been suspended during the economic downturn.

Earlier this month, Rotana said it plans to sign agreements to operate its first hotels in Western Europe.

Kaddouri told Arabian Business that Europe represented the next target market for Rotana’s expansion plans, and the company is targeting openings in key cities across the UK and Europe by 2020.
