Chairman of Al Habtoor Group reveals new business move; has two films currently in pre-production
Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, one of the UAE's leading businessmen, on Tuesday revealed plans to become a Hollywood movie producer.
The chairman of the Al Habtoor Group said he is in the pre-production stage of two Hollywood films, without giving any further details.
He will be following in the footsteps of Abu Dhabi-based Image Nation which has built a reputation for backing big-name movies in Hollywood such as The Help and Contagion, which starred Matt Damon.
Al Habtoor said he is to visit Egypt soon with a team of experts who are scouting for Egyptian talent in the entertainment industry.
“We are in the pre-production stage of two Hollywood films. We have been working on them for some time and are very confident that they will be well received,” he said.
“Egypt is renowned for its film industry, so we will consider Egyptian actors and actresses for various roles.”
The purpose of the trip to Egypt is to visit to the American University in Cairo (AUC), where Al Habtoor will make a new philanthropic announcement.
He is a long-term supporter of the campus and in 2010 he donated a football and track stadium in his name at the Cairo campus.
