Union Properties on Wednesday announced the beginning of construction for phase three of its Green Community in Dubai Investments Park.

Contractor Sharpoorji Pallonj Mideast laid the foundation of the project which is spread over 1.48 million square feet.

The project has been designed by Dewan Architects and Engineers and will feature 226 homes including 210 villas and 16 duplex apartments.

The project, which also includes retail space, is expected to be completed by mid-2017, Union said in a statement.

Currently, the Green Community has a total of 1,555 units in the two phases - 719 in phase one and 836 in phase two. The new phase extension will bring the total up to 1,765 residential units.

Khalid Bin Kalban, chairman of Union Properties said: “The beginning of construction for Green Community Phase III in Dubai Investments Park is in line with the strategic plans to finalise projects without any delay to promote the investors trust and interests in the real estate market which is one of our top priorities.

“The government infrastructure projects in Dubai, and in particular Dubai Investments Park has become a strong incentive to support and develop the real estate projects; hence the development of new routes and transport infrastructure is playing a significant role in real estate expansion, and it’s definitely an essential key motive for us to implement a development plan to execute new projects for both residential and commercial.”

A Vivek Anandarajah, senior vice president of Shapoorji Pallonji Mideast, added: “We are pleased to have been selected by Union Properties as this is a great opportunity to be commissioned work on such a quality project... we are confident to deliver a successful project to Union Properties in line with the highest standards of quality.”
