US designs for arts centre

US architect, Frank Gehry, has unveiled designs for a new contemporary arts centre in Paris for Bernard Arnault, head of the LVMH Group, and France’s richest man.

Located between the Bois de Boulogne and the Jardin d’Acclimatation, the 6,000m2 Louis Vuitton Foundation for Creation will house exhibition galleries, an auditorium, indoor garden and roof terraces beneath a glass canopy.

As well as housing temporary shows, the foundation will feature the history and archives of the LVMH Group, which is behind Moet et Chandon champagne, Hennessy brandy, Givenchy perfume and baggage brand Louis Vuitton.

Construction is expected to start soon, with completion due in 2010.
