UV coating keeps surfaces scribble-free

While graffiti may not be a noticeable eyesore in this part of the world, a Spanish company has taken hi-tech steps to make sure that ceramic and marble walls remain scribble-free.

While graffiti may not be a noticeable eyesore in this part of the world, a Spanish company has taken hi-tech steps to make sure that ceramic and marble walls remain scribble-free.

NO&LO Group recently won a European award for excellence for its innovative use of UV/EB technology (ultra-violet radiation/electron beam).

In the ‘Automotive and Specialty’ category, NO&LO Group won first prize for its anti-graffiti UV coating for ceramic and marble surfaces.

Known as Rocalux, this technology effectively protects porous ceramic and marble-type natural stone substrates.

The coating is applied uniformly with a cloth on clean, dry, polished or non-polished marble until the desired intensity is obtained.

After removing excess dye with a damp cloth, a UV lamp is applied to dry and fix the protective coating.

According to NO&LO, Rocalux is specially designed to protect and maintain natural and synthetic stones and unfinished tiles, intensifying their colours while allowing for easy removal of graffiti and poster adhesive from the treated surface.

NO&LO was recognised for targeting substrates not normally coated via UV technology, thus opening up new markets for growth within the UV/EB technology industry.
