VAR signing boosts SAP's Jordanian prospects

United Technology Solutions to to provide major public sector channel focus for SAP in Jordan

SAP MENA has brought on board Jordanian systems integrator and IT supplier United Technology Solutions (UTS) to further its public sector focused business in the Kingdom.

SAP — the ERP and business software specialist — says that under the agreement UTS will form a major channel for them in Jordan in a value added reseller role. UTS is known for the work that it does targeting the public sector and is also tied to other vendor heavyweights including Microsoft, Intel, HP, Avaya and Oracle.

Sergio Maccotta, managing director of SAP Middle East and North Africa, says local knowledge and reselling aptitude made UTS a clear partnership choice.

“SAP’s partnership with UTS provides us with a key long-term partner within our ecosystem, giving us the right network, local knowledge and technical skills to offer our customised solutions,” he said.

In addition to its work in a VAR capacity, UTS will also oversee the implementation of SAP’s scholarship programme which is aimed at talented Jordanian IT students, in order to increase the level of skills and knowledge in the Kingdom’s IT channel.

“As part of our commitment to the Jordanian market, we are keen to help build the IT skills and technological infrastructure required to support the modernisation of the Kingdom’s public sector and the development of its growing knowledge-based economy,” added Maccotta.

Consistent with SAP’s strategy, UTS is adamant that recognising the importance of IT is a critical component of the local Jordanian economy.

“Our partnership with SAP will not only enable us to leverage global expertise and best practices in public services, but help us nurture the development of Jordan’s IT workforce – ultimately ensuring long-term economic success,” said Daoud Abboud, CEO at UTS.
