It all began coming together with Emirates' announcement last year that it would 'join forces' with Flydubai.
By tapping into the hybrid-budget carrier’s smaller sized fleet that operates out of the same airport in the same city, Dubai could get passengers on more cost-efficient aircraft from places that few other carriers were flying to, and the only carrier that promises a smorgasbord of menus, young and smart cabin crew, onboard bars and lounges, live sporting events at 35,000 feet – quite literally, ‘a world of possibilities’.
In this edition of Inside AB, Jeremy Lawrence and Shayan Shakell look at how, following the Emirates and Flydubai alliance, Etihad and Gulf Air are looking to join forces in a bid to reverse losses. And they aren't alone. Where once the Gulf’s carriers all sought to conquer the skies on their own, partnerships will drive the new era of regional aviation.
