Only a quarter of business leaders across Europe, Middle East and Africa are confident in their current cyber security, according to a new study commissioned by VMware in partnership with Forbes Insights.
We now live in a world of greater complexity, with more interactions, connected devices, sensors, dispersed workers and the cloud, all of which have created an exponentially larger attack surface. This raises questions of enterprises’ abilities to protect themselves in this more sophisticated digital age.
The bottom line is that business leaders do not trust their current cyber security solutions to deal with the changing digital landscape. With ever more services and data online, and with cloud-based services now mainstream, there is a growing awareness that cyber security needs to keep pace.
What’s interesting is that in the UAE is that the percentage of business leaders who believe their security solutions are outdated (90%) is significantly higher than the EMEA average of 76%. This is perhaps part of the reason why half of the UAE respondents said that they have acquired new security tools over the past year to address potential security issues, compared to 42% of EMEA respondents.
