‘Tax meter’ climbs in Brazil

Brazilians pay some of the highest taxes in the world, with a ‘tax meter’ in Sao Paulo showing that in this year alone Brazilians have paid more than USD550bn in taxes. Essentials such as fruit and vegetables, as well as games consoles and other luxuries are heavily taxed, making life increasingly difficult for a huge percentage of the population.
