Visa enables card payment on food orders

Visa International has made it possible for customers of Chili’s and The Pizza Company to pay for food deliveries with their credit cards. This is possible thanks to the recent introduction in the Middle East of mobile payment terminals that use General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) technology.

The terminals have previously been used in the travel industry, mainly when delivering airline tickets to customers. This initiative by Visa, Chili’s and The Pizza Company marks the entry of credit and debit card payments to the home deliveries segment in the region.

“Visa payment cards are specially useful when paying for home delivery orders as Visa cardholders do not have to make a special trip to the cash dispenser to pay for their order,” said Stephen Coakley, marketing communications manager for Visa International in the Middle East. “As well as enjoying the privilege of special promotions such as this one with Chili’s and The Pizza Company, they can make secure purchases at any of the 24 million merchants around the world that accept Visa cards. In fact, thanks to the world wide acceptance of Visa cards, they can make purchases from almost any shop – any place, anytime and anywhere.”

To encourage usage, Visa is offering Chili’s and The Pizza Company customers who pay for deliveries by card to win various prizes. Until September 30, two family trips to Disneyland Resort Paris can be won. In addition to the grand prizes, all customers paying with their Visa cards during the promotion will automatically receive a gift voucher with their orders.
