Vodafone Qatar set to open first retail store

New telecom operator to ramp up its push to win customers ahead of Sept services roll out.

Vodafone Qatar will open its first retail store on Monday as it ramps up its push to win customers ahead of its planned roll out of services in September.

Vodafone customers who wish to pay their Flexi plan monthly payment using their bank account details can now do so at the store at Landmark Mall, the company said.

Vodafone Qatar officially launched its mobile services for the public on July 7 and opened its online store at www.vodafone.com.qa the same day, The Peninsula reported on Monday.

The website, which offers English and Arabic versions, has instructions on how customers can register, choose their numbers, take up promotions and get their Sim pack.

The company will also open retail stores in Villaggio, City Center and Lulu Hypermarket later this month.

The firm is also on track to list on the Qatar Exchange by the end of the month, its CEO Grahame Maher said in comments published last week.

Vodafone Qatar is also hoping to be the exclusive fixed-line provider in two of the country’s leading real-estate development projects once it has finalised its license application.

Maher said he had held talks with Qatari Diar for its Lusail Development Project and the United Development Company’s (UDC) new residential towers at The Pearl-Qatar.
