Vodafone Qatar unveils $179m modernisation plan

Vodafone Qatar is set to invest QR650 million ($179 million) as part of the operator’s ongoing drive to modernise its network.

Since January Vodafone has been upgrading its network sites, installing 200 new outdoor and indoor sites, offering 300 percent more data capacity, 300 percent more 4G coverage, and 30 percent more 3G coverage.

The company has given special attention to increasing capacity in the most populated areas in Qatar, with Wakra and Shahaniya the most recent areas to benefit from the modernisation, and 21 sites being activated in the most popular camping areas including Sealine and Fuwairit.

CEO of Vodafone Qatar, Kyle Whitehill, said: “We are committed to offering people in Qatar the best from one of the largest telecommunication companies in the world, Vodafone Group Plc.

“In the past year alone we have invested QR650 million ($179 million) for our network infrastructure and are committed to continually investing in Qatar’s ICT sector, which will play a key role in realising this great nation’s ambition.”

Vodafone Qatar has also launched a money-back initiative for all port-in customers and postpaid customers, whereby customers who are not completely satisfied in their first 30 days of joining can have their money back.
