Wataniya Telecom introduces prepaid roaming

Prepaid subscribers can now continue using their mobile phones in 10 destinations, receive calls and send and receive SMS messages.

Kuwait operator Wataniya Telecom has announced the launch of prepaid roaming enabling all its prepaid subscribers to make and receive calls while travelling away from Kuwait. The operator also announced that contract subscribers would no longer need to pay deposits to obtain roaming services.

Wataniya subscribers can now roam in a large number of holiday destinations following a simple rate plan requiring no deposit. The service package also features an information portal where Wataniya subscribers can access travel information including local listings and attractions compiled in association with Time Out magazine.

Prepaid subscribers can now continue using their mobile phones in 10 destinations, receive calls and send and receive SMS messages. While abroad subscribers can top up their credit in a number of ways, including through Wataniya X-Press recharge cards, credit cards, K-Net cards by SMS, or over the internet.

“Making customers lives more comfortable is our key target. Removing the barriers and enabling roaming is the inevitable thing to do,” said Harri Koponen, CEO & general manager, Wataniya Telecom. The operator counted 862,000 subscribers at the end of March, 90% of who were prepaid users.
