In line with Valentine’s Day, French luxury watch brand Louis Moinet has launched a ladies’ watch featuring a moon made of a meteorite piece that originated from the orbit of Mercury.

The ‘Stardance’ moonphase watch boasts the authentic fragment of the Enstatite EH3 meteorite which came from nanodiamonds formed by stellar collisions. They are believed to have taken place before the solar system was formed around 4.5 billion years ago. The meteorite allegedly reached earth after travelling millions of kilometres.

According to the brand, the Stardance dates – literally – from the dawn of time.

The meteorite piece is used in a moon phase indicator at 12 o’clock. The watch’s dial also features mother-of-pearl set against a motif of day and night as well as a white ceramic diamond-studded bezel with 6 cabochon-cut sapphires.

Only 365 Stardance timepieces will be produced.

On the back of the watch lays its automatic movement that continues the day-night theme.

As for its strap, it's made with white alligator leather featuring a distinctive glazed finish thanks to a special white/metal pigment treatment.
