Over 400 women participated in Sharjah’s first ever female-only obstacle course race on Saturday, according to organisers.
The ‘challenged accepted’ race – which was organised by Sharjah Girl Guides – included water, ice and sand obstacles, with competitors between the ages of seven and 12 competing on a three-kilometre track and participants aged 13 to 23 competing on a four-kilometre track. Prizes included gold medals, Apple watches and special offers from the Sharjah Ladies Club.
“We are extremely proud of everyone who took part in our ‘challenge accepted’ obstacle race, the winners, the runners up and every other competitor,” said Shaikha Abdulaziz Al Shamsi, Manager of SGG. “We planned for this activity to have a strong element of fun, to encourage them to get involved in fitness activities.”
“What we really want to see as an outcome of this event is more people adopting a healthy and active lifestyle,” she added. For all the latest health and fitness news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
