Lee Westwood moved to the top of the leaderboard on day three of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic on Saturday.
World No 3 Westwood picked up shots on three of his first four holes en route to a 67 that lifted him to 15 under, as early leaders Rory McIlroy and Thomas Bjorn faltered.
Germany’s Marcel Siem and Scot Stephen Gallacher are a solitary shot adrift of Westwood going into Sunday, alongside Spain’s Rafael Cabrera-Bello.
Joint overnight leaders McIlroy and Bjorn could only muster rounds of 72 and 73 respectively.
Westwood said in comments published by the official European Tour website: “I played nicely again. Very solid.
“I got off to a very good start, three under after four, rolled the ball well on the greens and hit a lot of good quality iron shots.”
