Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales will attend Ericsson’s Change Makers Forum in Dubai to discuss the power of social media and how open-source and open-content technology is affecting traditional business models.

The event will take place on January 10, 2016 at the Sofitel, Palm Jumeirah, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman, and chief executive Emirates Airline and Group Dubai Aviation City.

Wales will provide a keynote speech on how businesses need to interact with their customers, distributors and suppliers in the future to embrace the change in the society.

Wales, founder of Wikipedia, said: “As the founder of Wikipedia, I saw how collaboration and connectivity were two values that will help transform the society. The Change-Makers Forum aims to talk about the next step that companies and consumers need to embrace to achieve an enhanced society, using technology to enable this change.”

Rafiah Ibrahim, President, at Ericsson Region Middle East and Africa, said: “The Networked Society is sparking innovation, introducing new technologies, and opening-up opportunities for all. This new age will deliver growth, prosperity and will truly shape the future for generations to come. We look forward to discuss one of the most important trends facing our planet, the emergence of the Networked Society.”
