Construction work begins on new facility for luxury car maker in Abu Dhabi
Work has started on building a new AED133m ($36.2m) showroom for luxury car maker Porsche in Abu Dhabi, its distributor said on Thursday.
A ground-breaking ceremony was held this week to celebrate the start of construction on the facility which aims to meet growing consumer demand in the UAE capital.
The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2015 and will be spread over 2,200 sq m distributed over two floors.
Visitors will be able to view up to 18 display cars, and make use of comfortable lounges as well as underground parking, a statement said.
Located in Abu Dhabi's Rawdhat area, the new showroom will represent the third facility for Porsche in the country's capital.
"In the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, business has exceeded our expectations over the last years and we also look towards the future with the all-new Porsche Macan arriving in 2014." said Ahmed Al Dhahry, vice chairman and managing director of Ali & Sons Motors Co.
He added: "The two-year construction project is a positive step towards displaying these beautiful high-performance sports cars in a setting that truly reflects their superior quality."
Porsche delivered a total of 1,056 vehicles last year in Abu Dhabi. First quarter results indicate another strong year for the brand with sales mainly driven by theCayenne and Panamera models,.
