A construction worker was killed on the Burj Dubai site last week after falling from the climb form.

An investigation into how the accident happened is currently taking place in conjunction with the contractor, Dubai Police and Dubai Municipality.

But unconfirmed reports suggest that the worker fell to his death from the 130th floor to the 108th.

A spokesperson from Emaar confirmed the death, saying: "We regret to announce a fatality reported by our contractor at Burj Dubai, where a worker fell to his death. We sympathise with the worker and his family."

Emaar insisted that despite the death, no health and safety violations had occurred on site.

"Initial investigations have not revealed breaches of any safety regulations or procedures, and more detailed investigations are taking place to determine the cause of the incident. Emaar and its contractors adopt stringent safety procedures at Burj Dubai," added the spokesperson.

"Every aspect of work including man and material movement, and working procedures are considered carefully and regularly reinforced with training and continually monitored by site safety teams. Safety barriers have been put up at all levels; safety officers are present on-site; and all workers are expected to follow the safety instructions."

A consortium led by Samsung Corporation and including Arabtec and Besix are working on the main construction contract for the project. All have refused to comment on the incident pending the outcome of the investigation.
