LW Design Group to design mixed-use development on The World.
LW Design Group revealed in December that it will be responsible for the design of Aquitania, a mixed-use development on The World. The project is the latest launch from Dubai-based Select Property and will be situated on the France and Spain islands.
A collaborative effort from LW Design Group’s architecture and interior design divisions, Aquitania will include a 75-room hotel, a spa, water homes and serviced apartments. In keeping with the project’s European-themed locality, the design concept will incorporate contemporary Mediterranean elements, influenced by the upscale marinas and azure waters surrounding the islands.
“Select Properties approached us to create the design concept for Aquitainia as LW Design Group offers holistic architecture and interiors with a European background and innate style, which is well suited to this particular project,” said Morten Hansen, CEO of LW Design Group.
“We have devised a minimalist design, with white rendered buildings that fuse indoor and outdoor living,” added Colin Doyle, managing partner of LW Design Group Architecture. “Timber sundecks with jacuzzis and plunge pools on the rooftops allow residents to enjoy the unique locale of Aquitainia. Double height rooms and oversized floor-to-ceiling windows maximises natural light and creates an airy spacious feel to the water homes.”
Hyder Consulting has been appointed as the lead consultant and structural and MEP engineer for the project, while Brisbane-based designer, Place, will be responsible for the landscape architecture. Aquitania is scheduled for completion in 2012.
