Abu Dhabi Judicial Department will start to bring court service to the people with its new mobile courtroom that will begin hearing cases from next month.

The new bus, which was given a trial run in April, is part of authorities’ efforts to improve judicial services in the emirate.

“The bus will serve as an official court and could be used for cases involving large groups of people living in one area, such as labour camps, or that involve people who find it difficult to attend court, such as those with special needs,” said Yasir Salem Al Mahri, from the communications department of Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, told 7Days newspaper.

“The mobile court is part of the development of judicial and legal services through innovative ways that save the time and efforts of customers and on taking its services to all members of the public anytime, anywhere,” Al Mahria added.

The mobile courtroom will be capable of accommodating trials, with judges, prosecutors, clerks and other parties on the lower floor.

The upper floor will provide administrative services, such as registering cases, taking fee payments and answering public enquiries.

The hi-tech bus also has a touch-screen computer that serves as an information portal.
