Global investment firm Investcorp will launch a $100m fund dedicated to Oman’s pension funds, the Ministry of Defence Pension Fund announced at an event in Muscat.
The Opportunities Fund will focus on private equity investments in mid-sized companies, across a number of sectors, in the US and Europe.
Investcorp executive chairman Mohammed Alardhi said Oman is an important market for the firm due to growth potential in its economy.
“Oman is an important market for Investcorp and we are committed to playing an active role in supporting the development of its economy. This commitment was reiterated earlier this year when we held our board of directors meeting for the first time here. It is also reaffirmed through our continuing collaboration with the Ministry of Defence Pension Fund,” he said.
Alardhi said the company’s relationship with Omani pension funds will allow it to develop investment solutions that are tailored to their specific ambitions.
“The new Opportunities Fund is an example of how we utilise our strong track record in two of the largest markets in the world, the US and Europe, and our experience in servicing investors across the GCC,” he said.
He added that the Fund will enable Omani pension funds to tap into investment opportunities in growth companies, sectors and markets. For all the latest banking and finance news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
