Emirates Airline confirmed on Wednesday that one of its aircraft was involved in a collision with another plane while taxiing at an airport in Lagos.
Its Boeing 777-200LR plane made “minor contact” with a domestic aircraft owned by HAK Air on Monday night at the Murtala Muhammed Airport.
Local media reported that the accident investigation bureau had deployed a team to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Emirates was said to be taxiing for a take-off en-route to Dubai when its wing tip cut into the B737-400 HAK aircraft parked on the apron of the domestic wing of the airport.
An Emirates spokesperson said: “Emirates can confirm that flight EK782 from Lagos to Dubai on 6th July made minor contact with the aircraft of another carrier while taxiing.
“All passengers and crew safely disembarked the aircraft, and were transferred back to the terminal after the incident. Passengers were provided overnight hotel accommodation and were flown to Dubai on other Emirates services on 7th July. Emirates apologises for any inconvenience caused.”
