A Qatar court has sentenced an Indian Muslim to 40 lashes and ordered the suspension of his driving licence for two months for consuming liquor and driving under the influence of alcohol, it was reported.

The accused was captured by Al Fazaa patrols in Shabiyat Khalifa while he was parking his vehicle, Gulf Times reported.

He was found under the influence of alcohol and police also found a half-empty bottle of liquor in the car.

According to the Public Prosecution, the accused had consumed liquor and also confessed during interrogation that he was driving under the influence of alcohol, the English daily reported.

The accused, however, later denied that he had driven the vehicle while being drunk.

The claim was rejected by the court.

I think it was not necessary to mentioned "Indian Muslim".

Now replace "Indian" with either "British" or any other western nationality and see the reaction the world gives to Qatar...
Is the law the same for everyone?

Here we go again, looking at the world through your own cultural lense, and the faultless Indian is going through his usual paranoid victimhood status and the usual hyper criticism of others with no self criticisim at all.

Your region is the absoulute global worst offender in human rights absues, illiteracy, corruption, and racisim.

The police don't riducle and ignore low caste fathers if girls are gang raped and hanged from trees.

Your country denounced South African apartheid and moans about racisim, yet it has the most racist and sexist attitudes to its own people.

Time for western nations to cut aid and middle eastern nations cut its labor reliance until your people sort themselves out and join the civilised world.

@Indian. Well, I guess the British and the western world cannot be blamed if they react when they believe that anyone of their compatriots had been treated harshly. The Indians and the any other nationalities of the same region should be blamed for not reacting as much as the western world when they believe their compatriots have not been treated well. Don't blame the others for your inaction...You should have started a post stating your disagreement on the treatment of your compatriot rather than blaming the others.
