Although Doha-based Sri Cheril Krishna Menon, popularly known as CK Menon, is mainly focused on fuel transportation by land and sea, he has also extended his company’s involvement into steel manufacturing.
As chairman and managing director of the Behzad Corporation, Menon oversees a business empire that has operations all over the Gulf, as well as in Europe, South America and the US. Elsewhere, the group has also ventured into the IT arena via the Behzad Information Technology Centre in Dubai.
A well-known philanthropist, Menon has helped build homes for slum dwellers in his native Kerala, and is the director of that state’s government infrastructure department.
In 2009, Menon was given the prestigious Padma Shri award by India for his outstanding contribution to social services.
His latest award was from the World Malayalee Council (WMC) as part of the Federal Bank Kerala Business Awards 2011, which honours individuals and organisations from the Kerala business community who have excelled themselves during the year.
