A Bahraini filmmaker is shooting a supernatural thriller movie in the UK.

Sheikha Suha bint Abdul Rahman Al Khalifa, whose late father Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Faris Al Khalifa was a former ambassador to London and the US, is filming ‘Let’s Go Home’, with completion expected by the end of July.

Sheikha Suha is married to Richard Bellamy, the founder of UK-based production company Dreamscreen Productions, which is making the film.

Production costs for the film were funded by the couple, with help from Sheikha Suha’s family in Bahrain. They have also launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.com, to attract small-scale financing to cover promotional and other costs.

The film is based on a true story and tells the story of a couple that relocate back to one of their parental homes, only to discover it is housing a spooky form of grief, according to the movie’s website.

Sheikha Suha studied at the New York Film Academy in London after completing an undergraduate degree in psychology and English literature from the University of Maryland in the US.

The 38-year-old said told Gulf Daily News she had worked for Bahrain TV before moving to London in 2008 to pursue her dream of working in the film industry.

“My husband and I are writers and filmmakers,” she was quoted as saying.

“The film ideas we’ve come up with till now needed large budgets because they were supernatural-based.

“Eventually, we said let’s make a small-budget film and see what happens.

“At the beginning of the year, we came up with this storyline for a supernatural suspense film.

“The finance is entirely from Bahrain, so we’re very proud as this justifies it being billed as a Bahraini feature film.”

She added that the film had attracted interest from sales agents at Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Sheikha Suha has written two previous scripts intended for production – both of which deal with supernatural themes. The first was called ‘Existence: The Butterfly Dream’, and the second was a vampire epic called ‘Passage of Blood’.
